Ladies and some Gents,

We have reached 30 Episodes together! As well as the 1 year anniversary of Podcasting! It's been a very long, strange journey from my humbler beginnings sitting in my basement with a crappy microphone and the most ghetto may of getting my iPod to play with my voice in the background. I now podcast with a Mac computer filled with sound effects and professional tricks. So in order to celebrate this, I have compiled a Ryan Adams podcast! This features a song from each of his proper albums, just to give you a tastes of some of my favorite, deeper tracks on his albums.
So guys, thanks so much for listening! You have no idea what it means to me to have you read this and listen to what I put out there! So here's to another year ofr podcasting, and another 30 Episodes!

My comments: I have heard a few of these songs. Off Broadway is a track off his unreleased session "The Suicide Handbook", and it's great to see that being pulled from his unreleased pile. Tears Of Gold has a very laid back country feel, with alot of vocal harmonies live! Two was my favorite new song that Ryan played at Starland back in July! OMG, W/E, Ect. is a track I heard off one of his strange solo performances from San Fran in April of last year. Surprised to see that on here, but maybe it'll have some alternate lyrics, cause it wasn't Shakespeare last year!

To commemorate his album release, he will be performing at Stonehenge, yes, Stonehenge, in Salisbury over in the UK. He will be performing in front of one of the wonders of the modern world. I hope that Brad doesn't spontaneously combust! He's too good of a drummer for Ryan to find a new one!

GIN BLOSSOMS: LIVE AT ROCKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE (6.25.06)

You have no idea how thrilled I was when I heard that they were coming to Suffern. I've been a Gin Blossoms fan, for like, forever. I remember listening to New Miseralbe Experience in our old house in Spring Valley when I was 5 or so. The concert was supposed to be outside, and to correspond with fireworks at its conclusion, but torrential downpours stopped that. The concert was moved indoors, and barely anyone showed up, but it was special for the 200 people gathered. He grabbed our cell phones and sang to whoever was on the other line. And when everyone left before the encore, the mooks (Mia, Patricia, and myself) got to the front, and got dripped on by Robin. And him taking my cell phone made it very sweaty as well. Great show, and here are the pictures I took:

PHIL LESH & FRIENDS, TREY ANASTASIO & MIKE GORDON W/ BONAVENTURE/RUSSO DUO: LIVE AT PNC BANK ARTS CENTER (7.1.06)

A day's worth of Jam Bands, and my first time at PNC! I'd always wanted to go to that venue because I've driven by it all the time, going down to visit relatives, and I finally got to be there. The concert felt like a festival because it started at 4 and went until 11. I went to see Phil Lesh & Friends and they were sick as hell. The crowd interesting around us since we had seats on the lawn, and everyone had drugs. Everyone. Its hilarious seeing grandma's lighting up. And naked men during Trey's set. Naked men who stood next to us. Which leads me to my next question: How messed up do you have to be to take off all your clothes? And where they hell are they? That man was gonna have a headache the next day, I'll tell you that.

10 hour festival show in the Starland Ballroom parking lot. 2 stages and god knows how many bands, with my fellow band mates and friends made for an amazing day on the hottest day of the summer. Thank god for that mist tent that became a shower. We had trouble breathing standing up front for Streetlight, dodging the crowd surfers above us, and helping get the people who passed out to the security gaurds. Speaking of them, thank god they had water guns. And for Streetlight, who tossed a full bottle of water into the crowd, that the audience passed around. By the time Reel Big Fish came on, we were exhausted, but saved enough energy to skank to Sell Out.

Is the 3rd time the charm? I think so! Back at Starland 4 days later seeing a TOTALLY different genre of music! (Side note: I'm writing this on the 2nd anniversary of seeing Ryan for the first time, and I'm celebrating it by listening to the bootleg exactly at 9. Yeah, geeky, but it's making me very happy right now.)
We saw Ryan pre-show skateboarding around Starland, and a limo pulls up with these drunk guys who come up to me asking a Ryan trivia question, which I got right, and they give me a free coke which yeah, I kinda left behind. We were standing right in front of Catherine Popper who is so beautiful, and a great bass player, and yeah I looked at Ryan sometimes too. Best. Setlist. Ever! The end of the show was a bit confusing. The lights came up, and everyone started to leave. I mentioned that it couldn't be over, since it would be strange to end the show at 11:30 without playing a single acoustic song. I went to go get a setlist, and ended up right up front of Ryan when they came back for an encore. Oh Ryan, there are reasons why you're my favorite artist.

The Stone Pony has so much history for such a small club. It's where Bruce Springsteen got his start, and even though I'm not a fan of the boss, It's still really cool. The main stage was outside, which was suprising because we didn't know there was an outside to the Stone Pony. We also ran into random people we knew who we had no idea were going. It was so hardcore seeing Awful Waffle (BEE SWAT!!) again. The bee swat got so crazy that we stormed onstage doing it. The highlight was going backstage with Catch 22. How random, yeah I know. They were all so nice, and my shirt is autographed by each band member. They showed us their bus, and we chilled there for awhile, just shooting the breeze before their show. Atfer they finished the drummer tossed his drumstick into the crowd, and I grabbed it. Oh yeah. Go me.

So here I am at PNC again. This time with a seat, and this time no naked men walking around. Ray LaMontage is second to Ryan Adams, and I was so excited to see him. He was the opener for Guster, and I had no problem paying to see him play a shortened set for a band I'd never really listened to before. Ray performed in near darkness and whispered powerfully into his microphone. At times it felt like he was exposing his soul to himself and I felt like I was intruding and shouldn't be there. The crowd gave him a standing ovation as he walked off. I walked out of there being a Guster fan I must say. They were fun! Especially having a full percussion section, all played by hand!

Another free show! This was Ted Leo's 5th straight performace at the Seaport Music Festival, and only the second time that it went off without any problems. Ted played a super long and LOUD set in the Seaport. There were so many people taking pictures at this show, and I can only assume that they did it so they could blog about it also, so they could show off to their friends how "indie" they are. It pays to be up front at shows kids, and to wear earplugs!

ROGER WATERS LIVE AT JONES BEACH (9.15.06)

This concert was amazing from beginning to end. It all started when as we were pulling up to the rainy Jones Beach Theater, you could see a full double rainbow with one of its endings appearing to land right in the theater. How symbolic considering he was performing Dark Side Of The Moon. We entered the land of $40 concert t-shirts and $70 seats to sit far back, but it was all more then worth it. Its almost better sitting back at this kinds of show so you can see the spectacular light show. There was this scotch glass and a radio built on stage (or so it appeared). Turns out it was just a really really sharp picture on the video screen behind the band. The best part of the night was during Sheep, he brought out an inflatable pig and its "handlers" walked it around the audience. On the pig's ass it said "Impeach Bush Now", which was hilarious. Eventually (accidentally or purposely), the pig was released into the atmosphere, to land in someone's yard.
Dark Side was stunning, and we all sat in our seats with our eyes closed.

Willie Nelson Gets Busted

(AP) Willie Nelson and four others were issued misdemeanor citations for possession of narcotic mushrooms and marijuana after a traffic stop Monday morning on a Louisiana highway, state police said.

The citations were issued after a commercial vehicle inspection of the country music star's tour bus, state police said in a news release.

"When the door was opened and the trooper began to speak to the driver, he smelled the strong odor of marijuana," the news release said. A search of the bus produced 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and 0.2 pounds of narcotic mushrooms, according to state police.

Nelson's publicist, Elaine Shock, declined immediate comment.

Also cited were Tony Sizemore, 59, of St. Cloud, Fla.; Bobbie Nelson, 75, of Briarcliff, Texas; Gates Moore, 54, of Austin, Texas; and David Anderson, 50, of Dallas.

Each was released after being issued a citation

BNL Concert Offer

Yes I am an avid BNL fan, and their new album comes out tommorrow! Hopefully it comes in the mail tommorrow with the bonus disc, but anyway...

BNL is coming to Radio City Music Hall on Monday, November 6th, and the next day we have the day off. Its strange because last year, that week, that monday, at Radio City Music Hall, I saw Ben Folds. Talk about coincidence eh? Anway, I want to go, tickets are on the expensiver side (about $70 ish with the surcharges), but if you want to pay those prices, let me know.

I predicted this would happen due to the insane amounts of hype this band got. Well, here's the article:

Arctic Monkeys land coveted UK prize By Paul Majendie

LONDON (Reuters) - The Arctic Monkeys, who shot to fame on the Internet and broke all records with their debut, won the coveted Mercury Prize on Tuesday for the Best British album of the year.

"It's good tunes -- that's what we try to do," said frontman Alex Turner after the group accepted the 20,000 pound ($35,000) award.

The Mercury Prize judges tend to court controversy every year by picking quirky and offbeat winners rather than chart-topping blockbusters.

This year was a glaring exception with the prize going to the Arctic Monkeys who in January smashed the British record for the fastest-selling debut album.

"Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I Am Not" sold over 363,700 copies in its first week.

Even Turner admitted to being surprised that they had won. "Normally it doesn't go to a band that has sold as many albums as we have. But we are very pleased with it," he said.

The Arctic Monkeys handed out free CDs of their music at early gigs which were in turn downloaded onto the Internet by fans and sent across cyberspace.

They were surprised as anyone when crowds at concerts then began singing back the words as they performed.

For the Mercury, first awarded in 1992, the quality of the music, not the weight of album sales is normally the prime consideration.

In 1994, M People's "Elegant Slumming" beat competition from Blur, Pulp and the Prodigy -- much to the surprise of the music press.

Last year Antony and the Johnsons won the prize for "I Am A Bird Now." Lead singer Antony Hegarty, while born in England, spent more than 20 years in the United States, raising questions about his eligibility for the award.

Ted Leo show, Episode 24, OK Go video, Ray LaMontagne secret show

Ted Leo Show @ South Street Seaport
Last night was the free Ted Leo show at the South Street Seaport. This year was his 5th year in a row playing there, and this was the 3rd time for it to go off without a hitch, despite threatening clouds during the evening. The problem times that Ted has played there have been the day of the big blackout in 2003, and in 2004, there was a horrible lightning storm. This is the first time I've see Ted Leo, and I hope I see him many more times to come.

First up was the Tokyo Police Club, who were pretty good, and are Canadian to boot! They sound a bit like The Strokes (in the vocal sense). They also like the tambourine, especially the keyboard player, who gets overly into it like I do with a cowbell (no one beats me though, I'm violent!). They have an EP out on iTunes if you want to check them out any further.

Next up was the DC Snipers (what a politically incorrect name), and were a waste of 45 minutes. The keyboard player on the left, and the rhythm guitar player on the right were unnecessary, and the band as a whole was just overly brash, especially with the song, "All Humans Are Garbage".

But up next came the man who we all didn't have to pay to see, Ted Leo and his Phamacists! They played a blistering 2 hour set, playing a lot of older cuts, and a ton of new songs! I really liked the new ones "Colleen", and "Some Beginner's Mind" (which I have). He also played "Where Have All The Rude Boys Gone?", "Me and Mia" (Mia was pleased), "Walking To Do", and my favorite Ted Leo song, "Heart Problems". I've heard that the sound guys did a terrible job, and you couldn't hear the vocals at all in the back, but in the front we could hear just fine. I think a lot of people probably couldn't hear at all by the end of the night. I posted a good chunk of the pictures we took here on Flickr, and you can view other pictures people took by searching for them. I also saw a taper there, so hopefully it came out okay, and will be posted somewhere on the internet!

Ray LaMontagne Secret Show!

Thanks to Kim for the heads-up on this. Myspace is hosting a Ray LaMontagne secret show at Maxwells in Hoboken, NJ. You need to add Myspace secret shows to your Top 8, and print your homepage with your Top 8 to be allowed in. After you print, you can get rid of them and go on your way. The Show is at 7:00, but get there early to get in. Unfortunately I will not be attending this free show, because I can't take a train to Hoboken by myself, which is crap. Episode 23 and Ray LaMontagne/Guster Concert Review

Hey guys, what's new? Even though that's clearly rhetorical, because this is just text. Anyway, Podcast! This is Episode 23, and its another New Music Podcast. Some of this music isn't like exactly !BRAND NEW!

But I'm trying my best to shy away from my podcasts being a gigantic Top 5 List. Rob Gordon would be very upset with me.

So concert review:

Oh my Ray was just so amazing. I was so excited to see him, especially because he is one of my favorite artists. Second only to Ryan Adams. Yeah, that's how much I love his music, even though he's only released one album. His new album comes out on Aug. 29th so watch out for that!

Highlights of the night was Jolene, which is my favorite song of his. And the power behind his soft vocals is just amazing. And his closer, Burn was just as amazing. The venue really didn't match the type of music he was playing. PNC is just too big for Ray. His music is more fit to be played in a coffeehouse. I hope to see him again soon, hopefully next time as the headliner.

Speaking of the headliner, Guster was awesome! They were a lot of fun to listen to, and watch! Especially the drummer, who most of the time was behind a full bongo percussion set! He was wailing on those bongos the entire time, and constantly rewrapping his hands. They must be in shreads after a tour!

I really need to go get some of their albums. I only knew one of their songs, Amsterdam, which is their biggest hit. If you've never heard of Guster, you've probably heard that song by them. Great concert, and it was nice to go back to PNC. This time, no naked men!

Details on the Ryan Adams/Willie Nelson Album finally released!

Seventy-three-year-old music icon Willie Nelson collaborates with 31 year-old singer/songwriter Ryan Adams on his new album, "Songbird." Due Oct. 31 via Lost Highway, the 11-track set was produced by Adams, whose band the Cardinals back Nelson throughout. Veteran harmonica player Mickey Raphael also appears.

The track list features covers of Gram Parson's "$1000 Wedding," Christine McVie's "Songbird," the Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter favorite "Stella Blue" and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."

In addition, Nelson reworks his own "Rainy Day Blues" (which opens the album), "Sad Songs & Waltzes" and "We Don't Run," as well as tackling the traditional "Amazing Grace."

Nelson is in the midst of a tour with John Fogerty and also has headlining dates on tap through a Sept. 15 appearance at the Austin City Limits festival. On Sept. 30 in Camden, N.J., he will join Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews and Jerry Lee Lewis for Farm Aid in Camden, N.J.

Ben Lee Commercial

So today I just turned on the TV, and Catch My Disease by Ben Lee was blaring out of the speakers. It confused me, and when the screen finally awoke, I realized that Dell had used his song in their commercial. Strange that they would use the song Catch My Disease for advertising a computer. What are you insisting dell?

So I went to a Ska show at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park yesterday. First of all, it's a cool club with alot of history. For those of you who don't know, the Stone Pony is where Springsteen started out. Asbury park is a dump though. Very tough town. It was a really fun show though. There were two stages, one indoors, one outdoors (didn't know this). The indoor stage was a local stage, and Awful Waffle was awesome once again. The main stage had this Ska/Disco band that had a dancing horn section, it was really cool. The reggae band was very good as well. Big D & The Kids Table were alot of fun, and very loud. And Catch 22 was fun to see.

Now here's the good stuff...
We actually met Catch 22. Not just met them, we were in their tour bus! Sam Spakony is indirectly related to the bassist I believe, and he got us past the gate. We got all their autographs and whatnot, and they signed a plate saying: C22 <3's Bangin' On A Trash Can! They also gave us offical permission to cover their songs. We talked to them about the whole Streetlight/Catch 22 controversy, and they are pissed off at Thomas for remaking Keasby Nights with Streetlight. It was originally going to be a remake with the whole original lineup of Catch 22 for old time's sake, and to get a better sounding product out there, but Thomas scratched that idea and did it himself. They also said that as a matter of principle, they shy away from playing the songs that he wrote with Catch 22 live. It was very interesting to hear the truth, and very cool that they invited us to their bus to sign some stuff and just hang out. Some pictures were taken with other's camera's so when i get them I will post.

Also, congradulations to my cousin Katie & her husband Chris on their wedding on Saturday! It was a b-e-a-utiful ceremony and a fun party too!

Hey guys. I've bought a lot of albums recently, so I will take the time now to break them down for you

Ben Folds Five - Ben Folds Five

As I've said many times, my favorite Ben Folds Five Album is The Unauthorized Biography Of Reinhold Messenger, but most Ben Folds fans say that it's their least favorite of his records. For awhile I could never understand why. Just recently I finally understand where they're coming from. They missed the sheer upbeat, and often silliness of the band that you find on this stellar record. On their debut album, Ben Folds Five dares you to not smile once at their silly lyrics. On Julianne, they open with, "I met this girl who looked like Axl Rose". Hilarious. Each song is its own pop hook in itself. So catchy it should be a crime.

Sonic Youth - Rather Ripped

As I unwrapped the CD and looked at the picture of the band as I put the CD on, the first thought that came to my mind was, "Wow, Sonic Youth is so old!" And they really are folks, but their age doesn't take away from the fact that in their 25th year as a band, they are still making cutting edge rock music. This album is no Sister, or for that matter, its especially not Daydream Nation. Unlike those albums, this one is very accessible, and not difficult to listen to. It's comparable to their previous album, Sonic Nurse in that respect. Its again very jammy, and still has the classic guitar produced noise that makes Sonic Youth who they are.
Ugly Rating: 3.5/5
Ugliest Track: Pink Stream

I have some other albums to review, put I'm too damn tired to bother with it right now. It's been a long week folks. This summer has just been a really confusing one for me, and I'm not in the best moods right now.

I'm off to my cousin's wedding tomorrow, then Catch 22 w/ Big D & The Kid's Table on Sunday.

Before the show as we were waiting outside, Ryan comes out of the venue on his skateboard with his guitar tech andsomee other guys. We also spotted Brab Pemberton (drummer), and Jon Graboff (pedal steel) coming out of the bus. We got into the venue and got decent spots on the right side of the stage. Neal Casal was the opening act, and he also played in the Cardinals with Ryan. He was okay, I was just really anxious to see Ryan. Shakedown was as always alot of fun.; What Sin into Dear Chicago was mind bending! Easily the highlight of the first set. Ryan was all business the first set, and didn't say a word to us until the last song of the first sent. The second set he was quite chatty, and very funny. He did the funniest improv song basically about the movie Independence Day. He played alot of Rock N Roll songs, which was suprising, and very exciting to hear. Wish You Were here and Note to Self: Don't Die wereburstingg with energy. I See Monsters was stunning to hear with a full band backing him. Easy Plateau was the best and most refreshing that I've ever heard it. Ryan left the stage saying goodbye, and the house lights came up. The roadies started to take apart the stage, and everyone in the audience was confused. He haden't even played 2 hours, and there wasn't anacoustice guitar in sight the whole show. We put that aside, and I went to get a setlist from the stage. As I waswaitingg, right at theedges of the stage, dead center, the band walks back on stage looking confused. Everyone jams back into place on the floor, and the roadies bring back their microphones. Ryan was like "We're not done, we just stepped out for a cigarette". Unfortunately when the house lights came up, the security guard at Starland forced the people at the back of the venue out. And when the band came back on, they weren'tallowedd to come back into the venue. Fightseruptedd, and cops arrived and arrested a few people. Starland really messed up. I was lucky enough to have stayed around, and Ryan was in top form for the encore.

By the way, Catherine Popper is still very hot. Just thought I'd mention that

So for Come Pick Me Up, Ryan stands on top of a piano bench and plays to the crowd. It was simply stunning. They walked off, and this time, we all knew it was over. I'm still digesting this show, so I can't really compare it with all his other performances that I have seen. I will say that this time, I could at least see his face. At the Beacon I had terrible seats, and the lighting was so dim. Last time I saw him at Starland it was more like Grizzly Adams. It was an awesome show, and I can't wait to get the bootleg of this. Bound to be a classic.

Hey all,

Yesterday I was at the Starland Summer campout, and that was pretty awesome. I'm still digesting a very long 10 hour concert, so I will post about it some other time in the future. All I can say is that I slept for 12 hours to recover from yesterday. I did a heavy duty cleaning in my room today, and discovered notes and such I haven't seen in almost 2 years. I wish I didn't find them, I hate reliving moments in the past I'd rather forget.

Ryan Adams: Another 3 album year??

2005 was quite a year for Ryan Adams fans. He released 3 very different albums in one year, and according to message board posts on ryanadams.org, he plans to release 3 more in the remaining months of 2006. On said website, username "whatever its ryan" has been posting as Ryan Adams, and there is much debate to if this is actually him, or just an obsessive fan. I believe this is actually him, but I still take it with a grain of salt.

First record is getting mixed and mastered while we are on the road. Its the first of three. Its solo.
Its called "Blackhole". Johnny on drums, me on everythinbg else. lots of raw guitar and kinda sexy/ damaged tunes. My favorite easily.
Second record. I am in the studio as we speak finishing it. Its a double record, meaning around 30 songs. Its called, and I know its bogus but I dont care, its called "War and Peace". Its about cleaning up my act. I play everything and it has every style, every true guitar part, every type of soing (sometimes within one tune) to express what I have been going thru for awhile. Its hard to listen to back for me lyrically but musically all over the map. punkish stuff, some sabbath garteful mix, some silly pop, smiths disco, and sonic youth vibes and me and the songs on the piano like everything dies, and dont get sentimental and lighthnouses.
the third, CARDINALS, we started this already before our break before rehearsals for this tour, and we have 16 tracks, but half of those are good enough and half arent. "Two hearts" "Two" and a few others people might remember from past live shows are included. its gonna have just 11 songs, just 11 so maybe that"ll shut em" up after rest. no album title for that. might be called "star wars" if we caan get away with it as there is a badass tune called starwars on there. its pretty funny/

If this is actually him, then I'm very excited! He will be touring the USA this summer, starting July 20th at the Starland Ballroom. Of course, I will be there.

Say it ain't so! Weezer done?

Hey guys. So today I read an article concerning the possibiblty of Weezer being done for good, and here is what I think. Honestly, I love Weezer. The Blue Album, and especially Pinkerton, were one of the best albums of the 90's. But after that, their music has sucked! I mean, the Green Album?? Come on! 30 minutes long, and every song is basically the same! Also, their last album, Make Believe, I maybe listened to it two or three times. Its mediocre at best. And Beverly Hills sucked too. I'd hate to see Weezer go on such a low note, but they haven't done anything productive in 10 years.

Syd Barrett, founder of Pink Floyd, dies

LONDON - Syd Barrett, the troubled genius who co-founded Pink Floyd but spent his last years in reclusive anonymity, has died, a spokeswoman for the band said Tuesday. He was 60.

The spokeswoman — who declined to give her name until the band made an official announcement — confirmed media reports that he had died. She said Barrett died several days ago, but she did not disclose the cause of death. Barrett had suffered from diabetes for many years.

Barrett co-founded Pink Floyd in 1965 with David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright, and wrote many of the band's early songs. The group's jazz-infused rock made them darlings of the London psychedelic scene, and the 1967 album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" — largely written by Barrett, who also played guitar — was a commercial and critical hit.

However, Barrett suffered from mental instability, exacerbated by his use of LSD. His behavior grew increasingly erratic, and he left the group in 1968 — five years before the release of Pink Floyd's most popular album, "Dark Side of the Moon." He was replaced by David Gilmour.

Barrett released two solo albums — "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett" — but soon withdrew from the music business altogether.

He spent much of the rest of his life living quietly in his hometown of Cambridge, England, where he was a familiar figure, often seen cycling or walking to the corner store.

Despite his brief career, Barrett's fragile, wistful songs influenced many musicians, from David Bowie — who covered the Barrett track "See Emily Play" — to the other members of Pink Floyd, who recorded the album "Wish You Were Here" as a tribute to their troubled bandmate.

The band spokeswoman said a small, private funeral would be held.

Sorry if you've heard this from me before, but vinyl is so much better then any other format! It gives you a much warmer sound, and adds a depth that you miss on a CD. Analog can handle all frequencies, while digital can't so it compromises some of the frequencies which explains why you miss that depth.

Remember kids, I need you to tell me what song you would want played at your funeral, or I can't do this podcast! I only have one so far, so chop chop!
